Exactly Wrong

June 28, 2007 By: billmyers Category: Current Events 7 Comments →

On Monday, June 25, the U.S. Supreme Court limited students’ First Amendment rights with one ruling and eased restrictions on campaign ads with another. In other words, they got it exactly wrong. Public schools should be places where information and ideas flow freely, whereas someone needs to stanch the influx of money that is poisoning our political system.

It is interesting that this is the work of a “conservative” court.

The Disappearing Post Trick

March 10, 2007 By: billmyers Category: Current Events, Journal 4 Comments →

This afternoon I put up a post angrily criticizing a woman in my area for certain remarks she made to the local media. Earlier this week she narrowly escaped being killed in a terrible car crash that claimed the lives of two others. She believes she survived the accident because God has a special plan for her. My initial reaction was one of anger, because her remarks implied that the people who died in the accident were less special than she. The Democratic Response

January 31, 2007 By: billmyers Category: Current Events 8 Comments →

Lampooning Bush was easy for me. I’m a Democrat. What’s harder to admit is that my “side” is just as much to blame for the Iraq War as Bush and his Republican buddies — and just as mealy-mouthed as well. (more…)
