Coulter's "Macaca moment" spurs newspapers to drop column
In the wake of right-wing pundit Ann Coulter's recent remarks at the Conservative Political Action Conference about Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, at least three newspapers -- The Lancaster New Era (Pennsylvania), The Oakland Press (Michigan), and The Mountain Press (Sevierville, Tennessee) -- have decided to drop Coulter's nationally syndicated column from their opinion pages, according to an article on Editor & Publisher's website.

American Press editor tells Media Matters his paper "dropped Ann Coulter on Monday"
Media Matters for America has learned that the American Press of Lake Charles, Louisiana, has dropped right-wing pundit Ann Coulter's nationally syndicated column from its opinion pages, apparently in response to her March 2 remarks at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), referring to Democratic presidential candidate and former Sen. John Edwards (NC) as a "faggot."

"The Ann Coulter Drinking Game?" What, you mean like everyone does a shot every time she says something stupid? People would end up with alcohol poisoning in no time flat!

The thing with Ann Coulter that always comes to mind is an interview I saw on Fox News once where she was wondering why everyone was calling her the sexy whatever. I'm sure the long blond hair and the miniskirts have nothing to do with it. Although, to be honest, I've seen moldy cheese with larvae coming out that was more sexually appealing than Ann Coulter.

"4. Ann Coulter is a bully who thrives on forcing her opponents into a reactive posture. I’m suggesting that we stop playing her game and play one of our own."
I can see it now. The Ann Coulter Drinking Game.

Jerry Chandler: "I forwarded out your column request, however I do have a few reservations about it."

Allow me to address your concerns:

1. The chances of us actually being able to create a nationwide phenomenon are quite slim.

2. Ann Coulter is going to play up her "victimization" by liberals no matter what we do.

3. You can't shame someone like Ann Coulter by pointing out where she's wrong. She's the type who'd say "up" is "down" for the sole purpose of contradicting a liberal.

4. Ann Coulter is a bully who thrives on forcing her opponents into a reactive posture. I'm suggesting that we stop playing her game and play one of our own.

Isn't the title to this thread is kinda redundant? I mean, the first thing I think of when I hear the name Ann Coulter...

I forwarded out your column request, however I do have a few reservations about it.

If enough people do that to her, she'll just use it to play her usually victim/superiority card. She whine on about how all liberals do is attack her and squawk about how liberals can't take on her "points" and "positions" and just resort to name calling. Thing is, since most of the shows she goes onto when not shilling for her latest book are shows that are friendly to her with audiences that are friendly to her, this approach may only serve to gain her support with many of her audiences at the time of the attempt.

Hit one or two of her "facts" first. It's easy enough to find any number of her favorite factually challenged observations on the world, politics, history and reality in general. Then, after you make her look stupid, ask her about her pronounced Adam's Apple. She may still try and play up her "victimization" by liberals, but you'll have at least first revealed one of her "facts" to be a joke.

While I'll gladly take the opportunity to do as you suggest, a better question would be to whoever still invites her on their show--Why?

there was a time, long ago, when I liked her but she quickly turned mean and unfunny. Conservatives should make this their Sista Soulja moment and cut off all ties to this harridan.
