Great job. He was a "good man " as you put it and symbolic of his generation. The one word I would use to describe him is "sacrifice". He put the welfare of others before himself his whole life. He would take Helen out on friday nights for the Fish fry at Myers restaurant. (Probably the thing he liked best about converting to catholicism) He would almost always leave a tip that was over 100% of the tab. (not hard to do at Myers prices) He would always tell my mother that it was because "these waitresses are raising kids and need the money now" & " what the hell am I going to do with it anyway?" That was the part that got me. I so identified with that--it describes several of my departed relatives. Great tribute, Bill.
