I'm calling myself out -- and asking for your "help" in doing so because I believe that will provide me with some of the motivation I need. I have learned that I am capable of being truly happy only when I am working full speed ahead on my comic. Seriously. Writing and drawing comics has been a dream of mine since I was a young lad. In fact, it was my dearest dream. In terms of a career, it was my ONLY dream. For a myriad of reasons I’d rather not divulge (everyone’s entitled to a private life, even a self-revelatory blogger like me) I allowed myself to get distracted. That cost me. I have learned that I am capable of being truly happy only when I am working full speed ahead on my comic. Seriously.

I started my first novel in January. I figured that I should at least try one. I had some good luck with some stuff getting published in the college published stuff way back when, I had just passed my 35th birthday and I constantly have stories and ideas rattling around inside my head. Well, I just passed my 36th birthday this November and my novel is up to about 56 pages of first draft work. Hand written. On a yellow legal notepad. With lots of stuff crossed out. It's likely, at best, 25 to 30 pages when corrected and typed properly. I have one hell of an outline finished though. I just keep finding other things like firing range time, news watching, playing Smackdown VS Raw on the PS2 and blogs to eat my time up. Compared to my work rate, you're killing yourself to get your stuff done. Sigh. I really need to buckle down myself. =( Hey, I’m not going to be throwing any stones here. And just to give you some perspective, here, my magnum opus, unlike most of my stuff which averaged being written in a month, I started in November of my junior year of high school. I got out in '90.
