The Future of Bill Myers Creations and The Victory Streak
On January 14, 2006, I started this endeavor with a single Web page announcing the birth of Bill Myers Creations and The Victory Streak. It was the result of a spur-of-the-moment to decision to unleash the ideas and dreams that had been pent up inside of me. It was like water bursting forth from a broken dam. I didn’t know how to control it. I didn’t have a plan.
Now… I have a plan. It’s going to result in some exciting changes and new projects, and I’d like to fill you in on what’s coming up:
The current Web site will be getting a new look. Those of you who have been following my work know that the Web site has always been a work in progress, changing weekly or even daily in some cases. Rather than continue to experiment with the site haphazardly, though, I’ve been studying other Web sites to determine what works and what doesn’t (IMHO, at least). I’m going to overhaul the site as part of an overall plan to create a Web presence that will effectively market my graphic design services and my comic-book. As part of that overhaul…
The Victory Streak Web page will be “spun off” into its own Web site. The Victory Streak will be published under the Bill Myers Creations banner, but I want my graphic design services and my comic-book work to each have their own “company identity.” I intend to cross-promote them, but I believe that each of them need their own identity in order to ensure their success.
The Victory Streak will be kicking into high gear. I may devote a blog entry to everything I’ve learned just trying to pencil the first couple of pages. But I’ve gained some momentum and have set a goal of publishing the book quarterly. It’s a lofty goal and I’m not sure if I’m gonna make it, but if one does nothing but set easy goals, life gets boring very quickly. I’ve been able to discipline myself to sit at the drawing board every day, and I’m getting faster with each successive day of drawing. Expect to see new penciled pages in the next two weeks, and a finished book ready for purchase by November of this year.
My graphic design portfolio will be online by August 12. It will be a fledgling portfolio to start, primarily showcasing my logo designs. But it will grow rapidly as I take on new projects. I fully intend to turn Bill Myers Creations into a viable graphic design services business. The competition is stiff, but I think I have what it takes to compete… and win.
Finally, my blog will become much more active. I’ve been addicted to other people’s blogs, and don’t intend to disappear from them. But if I have the blogging bug (and I do, trust me), it makes sense to devote the bulk of my blogging energies to my own blog. I’ll continue to post personal journal entries, provide updates about my projects, and solicit feedback about The Victory Streak in my blog. But I’ll also be expanding to include editorials designed to provoke discussion about what’s going on in the world around us. Like all of my blog entries, the editorials will be open for your posts, and I hope you will indeed contribute your viewpoints to those threads.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far. It means more to me than you can know. And the best part is that the best is yet to come.
